Blur focused on May 25
Activision slots in Bizarre Creations’ car-combat racer for later this spring on Xbox 360, PS3, PC; beta sign-ups now available.

Activision currently has its hands full with the PR fiasco surrounding the dismissal of Infinity Ward cofounders Vince Zampella and Jason Ward. The publisher would undoubtedly prefer to keep eyes on its games, however. Doing its part to oblige, Bizarre Creations said this week that its action racer Blur will shift onto the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on May 25 in North America and May 28 in Europe.
Blur is Bizarre Creations’ first racer since being acquired by Activision in 2007, and the studio is known primarily for its Project Gotham Racing and Geometry Wars franchises. The game was initially slated for a November premiere, before Activision delayed it to 2010 so as to improve the game’s online multiplayer component.
As for that multiplayer experience, Blur’s allows up to 20 cars to compete online in the game’s Mario Kart-meets-Project Gotham Racing-style driving. Online racers will be offered a variety of ways to customize their matches, and the game will also accommodate four-player local split-screen racing. The game features more than 50 licensed cars, as well as a variety of real-world locales, such as Barcelona, Spain, and San Francisco, California.
Check out GameSpot’s hands-on with the multiplayer beta for an idea of what to expect. Full disclosure: GameSpot is currently engaged in a Blur multiplayer beta key giveaway with Activision.
